T.I.P.S. - To Improve Pay and Success
Ethics at the Top
Never in American history has the confidence in business been lower. Some of our largest and most respected corporate executives s have been shown to be corrupt . Even those we rely on to hold them accountable have been shown to be dishonest. I believe we will feel the effects of this for some time to come.
Those on trial are almost exclusively men. This is because the top decision-makers are almost always men. Those positions sometimes require more resolve to remain true to one’s own value structure. Most of us cannot imagine joining a conspiracy of deceit, yet I believe the membership in such a conspiracy is very subtle.

There is more to lose from these positions, and more pressure to succeed. While it may appear that these men answer to no one, they must answer to the board and the shareholders. Economic and competitive environments are out of their control, but they must maintain the standards set by others.
As barriers to women continue to be chipped, we will more often face moral and ethical dilemmas reserved for those at the top. We like to think that we would not succumb, that we could always distinguish right from wrong. As we move forward through history, I believe those in executive positions will be held to more scrutiny and higher ethics. This is as it should be. Executive women need to stand up for what is right, even if the cost is great. Awareness is the first step. Small adjustments make a big difference.
